Nipah Virus (NiV Infection) - Symptoms, Prevention and Cure



Nipah virus infection is an emerging disease that was identified in 1998 in Malaysia and Singapore, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Human infection with Nipah virus in India and Bangladesh is linked with drinking raw date sap contaminated by fruit bats and contact with bats. It can also spread through infected bats, pigs, or humans.

Symptoms
  • High fever
  • Headache
  • Drowsiness
  • Disorientation
  • Mental confusion
  • Coma
  • Potentially death
  • After exposure and incubation periods of 5-14 days , illness presents with high fever and headache followed by other symptoms.

While there is no vaccines at present against the Nipah Virus

Prevention from Nipah virus
1. Don't eat partly consumed fruits.
2. Be careful of eating fruits especially season fruits. Wash it thoroughly.
3. Maintain distance with an infected person and .sanitize and wash hands and clothes afterwards.
